Week 5
The main thing that I foresee using this technology for is in days when I know I will be absent. As a music teacher, it can be very frustrating when you are absent, because nine out of ten substitute teachers don't know enough about music to help manage any classroom work. This leads many music teachers (every one of my music teachers in middle and high school) to just leave a movie for the substitute to put on for each class to watch. By preparing an audio slide show presentation like this, I would be able to give my students directions for an assignment as if I was there. I can even see myself putting PDF files or JPEGs of sheet music on the Power Point slides as musical examples for them to play. As long as the substitute can work an in class projector, it can prove to be a very productive day for the students despite my absence.

It is a great idea to use this tool for the classes that you have to be absent, so no body make a mess in your program.
ReplyDeleteGreat work with the technology. You are correct that you can use this for when you are absent. However, there is no substitution for quality instruction from the teacher. Have you thought how you could use this kind of technology in the manner presented in the Flipping video?
ReplyDeleteMy ideas of using this technology have been limited to using it as a means to record someone's voice. When I read your blog and you mentioned that you could use it to present musical ideas, I realized that it can be used in other ways. I really like your idea of incorporating musical examples that could be heard over written charts - its one that you will probably use a lot.
ReplyDeleteI think you did a great job seamlessly integrating your description of what will happen in class with the 21st century skills. I also like (and agree with) your wide interpretation of the kinds of projects and learning that the 21st century skills imply. I don't know if you found it so, but you make it appear effortless. Good work.
